We are thrilled to announce that the Chambre de commerce de Montréal Centre Sud Ouest (CCCSOM) is working in partnership with VilleUnie and Biz NDG, broadening our mission to promote local shopping to boroughs including Verdun, LaSalle, Ville-Marie, Outremont and more.
“We’re very happy to have signed this partnership,” says Jérémie Valluet, Associate General Director of the CCCSOM. We spoke with Valluet on why local shopping is important to him at the Atwater Market, one of Montreal’s largest and most vibrant farmers’ markets.
“Buying local, it’s like voting,” Valluet says. “I know where my vote is going, so when I buy a product manufactured locally, I know who my money is going to.”
The associate general director of CCCSOM, whose goal is to foster businesses and community organizations in Montreal’s Centre Sud Ouest area, prefers to support local manufacturers over multinational companies.
“Generally, people who manufacture locally are passionate about what they do,” he adds, acknowledging the need to support local merchants who often face challenges that come with being a small business.
“It’s like voting for a candidate,” Valluet explains. “We vote for their program. Here, we vote for their product.”
