At VilleUnie, we love celebrating local gems, and today we’re excited to introduce you to Raplapla — a delightful children’s shop in the heart of Montreal that specializes in lovingly crafted cloth toys, from adorable rag dolls to snuggly stuffed animals.

About Raplapla

Founded by Erica Perrot in 2005, Raplapla started as a creative project and quickly grew into a beloved brand. Erica, who has a background in fashion, wasn’t thrilled with the toy options out there for her children and decided to make her own.

The name “Raplapla,” which playfully means “tired” or “flat,” might suggest something dull, but Erica’s creations are anything but! Each Raplapla bursting with its own personality and charm.

Made with Love – Right Here at Home!

One of the things that makes Raplapla so special is its commitment to local production. “I had offers to move overseas for cheaper manufacturing, but I wanted to ensure quality and keep it local,” Erica explains, but she wanted to keep the production of her toys at her workshop in Montreal’s Mile End.

“A long-running battle” is how she would describe Raplapla’s mission, pricing the rag dolls at a fair price to support its local artisans and to compete against other doll shops abroad with extremely hard working conditions.

Safety and Sustainability Matters

Raplapla also prioritizes the safety of your little ones. Erica knows that babies and toddlers love to explore their toys, often with their mouths, so she carefully selects materials to avoid harmful chemicals. The Raplaplas are made with organic cotton, and when possible, made from locally knitted materials.

Plus, they offer a fantastic repair guarantee! If a beloved toy shows signs of wear after years of love, parents can bring it back for a fix—helping to reduce waste and extend the life of these cherished companions.

Come Support Local Magic!

When you choose Raplapla, you’re not just buying a toy; you’re supporting a local business and artisans who make it their mission to bring back to life your childhood plushies. The dolls also come with a subscription to their newsletter where you receive monthly letters and puzzles from Mr. Tsé-Tsé, the shop’s mascot.
